MEMBERSHIP & CONFERENCE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Last updated: February 2026
1. INTRODUCTION
These Terms & Conditions govern membership of the Paediatric Society (the “Society”) and registration and participation in conferences, Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities, and related events organised by the Society. By applying for membership or registering for any event, the applicant confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in full.
2. MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Membership of the Society is strictly reserved for medical practitioners who practise Paediatrics in Mauritius and who are duly registered as Paediatricians with the Medical Council of Mauritius. The Society reserves the right to verify registration status, request documentary proof, and approve or reject applications at its sole discretion. Membership is personal and non-transferable.
3. PAYMENT TERMS
All membership fees and conference registration fees are strictly non-refundable, non-cancellable, and final upon payment. No refunds, cancellations, credit notes, or substitutions shall be granted under any circumstances. All payments are subject to the Society’s published Payment Policy.
4. CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
Conference registration is personal and valid only for the named registrant. Registration cannot be transferred or substituted. Only individuals who have properly registered and paid are entitled to attend. The Society reserves the right to refuse entry to any person who is not properly registered.
5. CPD POINTS AND MEDICAL COUNCIL COMPLIANCE
The Society strictly adheres to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines set by the Medical Council of Mauritius. CPD points shall only be allocated to participants who have properly registered, paid the applicable fee, physically attended the event, and personally signed the official attendance register. Failure to meet all these conditions shall result in no CPD allocation.
6. ATTENDANCE FRAUD AND FALSE SIGNATURES
Signing the attendance register on behalf of another doctor is strictly prohibited. Any signing for another individual, allowing another person to sign on one’s behalf, or falsifying attendance records constitutes serious misconduct. In the event of suspected or confirmed fraudulent attendance, the matter shall be formally notified to the Medical Council of Mauritius. Both the individual who signed fraudulently and the individual whose name appears with a false signature may be barred from receiving CPD points, participating in future Society events, and maintaining membership status, subject to internal review.
7. FORCE MAJEURE
The Society shall not be liable for failure or delay in performance due to events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, public health emergencies, government directives, venue unavailability, or civil unrest. The Society may reschedule events, modify format (including virtual delivery), or adjust programme content as necessary. No refunds shall be issued due to force majeure events.
8. PROGRAMME CHANGES
The Society reserves the right to modify conference programmes, change speakers, adjust schedules, or change venues within reasonable limits. Such changes shall not constitute grounds for refund.
9. DATA PROTECTION
Personal data collected for membership or event registration shall be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2017 of Mauritius and applicable regulatory requirements.
10. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Mauritius.
